Sparkle Friday Evening Event

Hello all,
Last year we were delighted to welcome you to the Sparkle Chinese meal
on the first evening of Sparkle 2007.
I'm again organising a Chinese meal, this time a Banquet and Entertainment (Cabaret & Disco), for the first evening of Sparkle. - Full Details Attached.

We warmly invite you to join us again, (Menu & Details Below).
The meal will include entertainment & a Disco.
It will be held at 7:45 for 8:00pm on Friday 28th June 2008,
and is open to all attending Sparkle 2008.
We especially invite those NEW to Sparkle, on their own, from overseas or out for the first time. Join us in a meal to help you make new friends to share the weekend with, and to become part of the fantastic party that is Sparkle 2008.
The event is again in the downstairs private function room of the Shang Hi restaurant, & so is particularly suitable for those not used to being out in public or dressing for the first time.
It is also accessible to Wheelchair users & will cater for vegetarians.
This year the Meal will be a banquet, thus leaving extra space for all those attending and for a Dance Floor for our Disco.
Cost is a very reasonable at £15 per person (Including a small tip for the restaurant, your entertainment and a disco), Payable in cash on the door or in advance if you prefer. Buy you own drinks from the restaurant bar.

Chicken & Sweet Corn Soup / Vegetable Hot & Sour Soup


Crispy Aromatic Duck served with Shredded Cucumber,
Spring Onion & Hoi-Sin Sauce

Dim Sum Platter
Crispy Seaweed, Spring Rolls, Crispy Wanton, Sesame
Prawn Toast, BBQ Spare Rib, & Crispy Chicken Wings.

Main Courses:
Stir Fried Beef in Cantonese Sauce
King Prawn in Sichuan Sauce
Stir Fried Chicken with Green Pepper & Black Bean Sauce

I see from the Sparkle web site that the Friday chinese meal runs from 8:00 till 11:00 and there is also another ongoing event at AXM Bar from 8:30 onwards where they are inviting us to don our posh frocks and shine!. Do you think we will have a chance to rush back to the hotel and do a quick change before nipping back up to Canal Street to stut our stuff?

Carina and I are booked for the chinese meal. I guess the AXM event will run on well after 11, so there should be time for a change if you want to, or just clean off the spare rib sauce with a sponge...
We're in the Atrium so it's on the way from the restaurant to AXM.
Goodness, so many things to do, so little time !

For myself I found that AXM was a let down last year with no entertainment on at all, theres 12 Ren girls at the moment Staying at the Ibis, lunch times are very much up to individual choice, the Italian or one of the other Restrants is good for us all to get together im open to sugestions, theres also the Birdcage which is like a cross between Roxys & Funny girls and it's not far from the village for either friday or sat night later on, I think one person will be fighting jet lag on the Friday,

Here is Bella Jays answer to my email query about Friday night

Hi Rachel,

The party at AXM will go on until about 2.00 am. I have asked Jenny-Anne to
point people in that direction after the Chinese meal finishes. So either come over direct or yes, if you want to change, there will be time. I hope you wont be going back to the hotel on your own though at that time of night! One way or another hope to see you at the Let's Shine party!

that there is the 'Lets Shine' event on at the same time at AXM bar. As
the Chinese meal/entertainment is due to finish around 11:00 what sort of
time do you think the 'Lets Shine' 'do' will go on till? In other words will i
get a chance to nip back to the Ibis and do a quick change into my posh frock, or should i leave it at home? It's decision time for packing you know!
