Hello all

I have a problem (no, not that one) - due to my gastranomic overindulgences the button on my favourite jeans is pulling through the denim :(

Now, I know the answer.....eat less and do some bl**dy exercise...ahem

But if anyone has any 'top-tips' on how to fix my jeans (rather than fix me) I'd be very gratefull.....

I think Compo from last of the summer wine had the answer........string.
Not really very helpful?
sorry.

How about a denim patch put on the inside and then sow button through on to patch to give extra strength......
Just a thought:):confused::D

I took the easy (lazy) way out and took them to clothing repair place yesterday - they pretty much did what you suggested Lynda - for £6.00 - with a new button. It cost me more than that because I looked round the shops while they were fixing them however :)

With normal trousers its possible to let the back seam out to give more space for the tum. Jeans are usually made using french seams and without owning a pair to check, do they use a different back seam in your pair?.

I have a program in my PC that prints out full size block patterns using the 14 measurements entered. I put my measurements in (padded bust) and entered it in the ladies styles. The program will print out a ladies pants too.
I have made all my dresses using this program including a pair of satin pants. my flickr site has my record of dressmaking

Hi there Jackie,

Thanks for the reply - but I fear my sewing skills are somewhat inferior to your own. I had a look at some of your photos - very impressive.

I did get the buttons repaired - but to ensure this doesn't happen again my only real recourse is diet/exercise :(
