A friend of mine suggested this link to freecycle - its a nationwide group which offers goods to other members in the area at NO COST - yep its true :D

Their speal is ----
Welcome! The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,721 groups with 6,573,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. To sign up, find your community by entering it into the search box above or by clicking on “Browse Groups” above the search box. Have fun!

Freecycle is great I have been using it for ages got some very good things off there, but you have to be quick if not it will be gone but some don't decide on the first come first served. I've never posted a wanted or offered but will do if needed to save it going into landfill.

Freecycle works well - I have used it several times to acquire and get rid of things. My only comment would be that they don't like people obtaining and then selling stuff on.
