I shop at Wallis too, but I would have to say the bulk of my wardrobe comes from Next, Long Tall Sally, M&S Per Una and their Limited Collection!

the only reason i asked is that i've liked their stuff for along time - its a good classic, well-made style that may be, well, a little stuffy at times, and, i can only afford the odd item now and them - but it does cheer me up somehow - tsk - how shallow am I?
PS Greatly admire anyone who can make stuff at home - me mum-in-law's 85 and an absolute genius, though ,to ask her, you wouldnt think she bothered at all!

I do have a nice black Wallis evening dress, a bit pricey for my usual standards, but fortunatly my wife tried it on for me! She was obviously in the right mood at the time as can't see her doing that very often!

Rach,
Joan surcomed to a little B&W spot number in Wallis a few weeks ago, took a size less than her usual...since she said it was clingy and bought the chunky pearls as well...I can see it being `worn to death on our hols`
As for myself, well I`ve seen a nice Per Una LBD that`s rather formal but I think is one of those styles that will not date and therefore will be in fashion for some time.
So...it`s on order and will be `in store` for `next months dress allowance` there`s also a nice Red number on order as well.
March and year end saw me surcome to `new hair` (three) just could not resist, had to dump the bob into the waste bin since I`ve worn it to death...Dresses from here and there...M&S and LTS...Manager in Manchester store is now called my `temptress`...as she always seems to be able get me to buy...when I really perhaps should resist...but what the heck you cannot take it with you...but do need it to pay the credit card bills. Last Sat I was in Manchester and again I surcomed to two dresses in soft material from M&S since local store did not have the size and fit I wanted...but Manchester did!
Now we have agreed final shopping spree date before we fly of in May for Mardi Gra so will be scouring the shops of Manchester and Trafford Centre next week for all those last minute items we just have to have...but then again we might not get much that suits our style and colourrs.
There`s so much linen about in this season`s fashions, it`s heavy and not to my liking or choice so one has to grab whatever fem styles one likes while they are to hand...otherwise is will be main season and the summer dresses will be over.
Give the wife credit for trying the dress on and seeing that it really was your style and colour...you never know your luck she might just do it again...unless you praise her you will never know...so over to you Rach...praise, praise, praise and then smile...it often works wonders you know!

Hmm - its such a full universe once you realise what's on offer to tv's - how do 'real' girls stay sane? You see their point of view!
Anyway, michelle , having perused yr mental contortions over various MCR stores, did just wonder whether or not you like more floaty, ethnic, hippy-chic stuff such as Nomads or La Redoute - hmmmmmm - cd go on forever!

I agree with whats been said, M & S is god value for classics, Matalan sometimes has nice things, there are a number of shops & market stals that are Asian owned which have resonably price items, ive used Primark fot T Shirts, Tights & Hold Ups and reasently I was in Freeport in Fleetwood were thee are some nice clothes at good prices, the outfit I had for Elanors & Jils Event came from there, usually its a cas of I buy what I lik even from George & Tesco

I have just come back to this thread, (dont know how or why but I'm wandering again)
Anyway with all of the High street shops mentioned Kim seems to be the only one like me that uses the larger ladies shops. I get rather upset when you "Little" girls go on about what you have got and can get from the "Usual" outlets. Give a thought to us Amazons in this world who cannot get anything from M&S, BHS, Matatlan, Primark, or (WALLIS start of thread).
I am lucky tho' I have a lovely friend who; when I can motivate her will make me something nice, like the "Cheong Sam" coat she made me for last Christmas, and a "Shalvar Kemees" for instance for the Indian night coming up next meeting night. (look out girls this is an exclusive cannot be repeated), and I can only say "WATCH THIS SPACE"
