Thank you for this web site. The products are very classy especially the "real nylons". Will definately buy some hosiery from here. Think I'm going to need the gloves to put them on though. Hate ladders.

Must recommend tights from Waitrose.

Called "barely there". A bit pricey at £4.50 but you don't know you're wearing them. Really comfortable.

They've even got a label at the back so you know which way round to wear them - Ehmmm.

Seriously, try them, very comfy.

Love my Pretty Polly Nylons Lace Top Thigh Highs that I wear

very sheer 8 denier, sandal toes, so can be worn with open toed shoed. Hold ups so practical as well, and they do hold up well, available in 2 sizes for us shorter girls and the taller ones too. Available in Black or nude.

Being a dedicated 50's girl, I wouldn't have previously dreamt of wearing anything other than FF stockings. However, after a recent first outing of a new galaxy dress at a TG party on the Wirral, I inadvertantly showed via a side-split, not only my stocking tops but bare thigh as well! Not being 'that' sort of girl, I toddled off down to Sainsbury's and bought two packs of tights (barely black and tan), 3 in each pack for about a fiver I think. The quality is ok as far as I can tell, but not a patch on my delicious Gio's.

For day to day wear I like golden lady tights from Asda - decent quality at a very good price.

Also like Charnos opaques, I buy these from tights please

Another online retailer I like to use (based in Macclesfield) are uktights. I've found some good end of line ranges here before today. Check out the Oroblu range. They also do some fab suspender belts - just love my stockings, make me feel more like a lady.

Also have to mention silky for their glossy stockings (and tights) because I love the cream and white ones (colours only available in the stockings though, don't know why). The party range are also rather nice.

Just love my nylons :D

Sainsbury's "Basics" 20 Denier one size tights make an excellent fan belt replacement if you are ever caught unawares!

I always carry a 'Continental Contitech' Fan belt in my Handbag...Just in case if the tights I am wearing ever snap!.........:)

I beg to differ.

I've tried Sainsbury's "Basics" range and they're really not that good.
Instead I use the "Nearly Sheer" range of 60 denier tights from Waitrose. According to the label they have 5% Xyloexponeochloropopsophane in them. Makes all the difference. Believe me it does! I find the "purely pink" ones most effective but they do raise eyebrows at the local garage. "It's all they had left" I claim. Not sure they believe me. Especially when they see my back seat strewn with empty packets.

Anyway you must try them. As I said they are a bit more expensive than Sainsbury's "Basics" but at least they last between services. Guess that must be due to the 5% Xyloexponeochloropopsophane in them.

As for the 'Continental Contitech' Fan belt. For goodness sake don't carry them in your handbag! With a few jewelled studs they make great necklaces. Think of of all the extra room you'll have in your hand bag if you take it out and wear it round your neck.

Happy driving.

Xyloexponeochloropopsophane!

LOL!.......Well you don't stop learning!...... I now know the existence of this compound!....;)... I can only assume it's a polyurethane-polyurea copolymer!

Zylo-expo-neo-chloro-pop-sofane!....assuming that's how it's pronounced!......... Now I know why my engine compression ratio is affected, say when fitting a pair of 'Pretty Pollys'! ...... ;)

Once again, I beg to differ.

It's Xyloexponeochloropopsophane. You got most of it correct, just the last bit seems a bit difficult for you.

It's Xyloexponeochloro-popso-phane!

You really must apply more emphasis to the "O".

Jan;)

If you store them in your Freezer for a while before hand you have far less chance of a ladder when you put them on;) i do not know why? but it works

Here's a thought for you girls. When you snag or get a ladder in your tights. Why not cut them just before the ladder or snag and make pair of leggings out of them..:D

I normally wear stockings cause I love the feel, but when I bought a new outfit that I wore at the last group night I bought a pair of black opaque tights which were perfect for my outfit, I got them from Sainsbury's and cost about £4

Hello everyone. Due to my recent circumstances i dont think im going to be able to get away with shaving my legs anymore, which kind of completely ruins the idea of being feminine, but hey ho...anyway, are there any tights that are particularly good for covering up hair? ( i have very light body hair btw)

Or am i going to be reduced to wearing jeans forever???? Shame when i rather like my legs!

You can always wear leggings as they do come in various sizes knee length, calf length etc.

40 denier? Or even 60 if particularly hairy!

Though very uncomfortable in this weather.

I have "Support stockings" on prescription. They look good, and fshionably glossy, but would be matt if worn the other way out. Similar hosiery is availble for purchase at Boots (No pun intended!) Patterned tights can look great, and we usually have a long winter! Could also wear more than one pair of tights.

Second thoughts, I thought that on a recent shopping trip (see my blog) Iwas "overdressed". I was wearing a skirt, as one does, but thought most females were in trousers, jeans, or leggings. Even the old bags like me. I think I might experiment with leggings - feminine, but perhaps less likely to attract the wrong sort of attention!
