Hi All!
As above title suggests am having trouble getting eyebrows right. My complexion is fair and the brows straight and a little faint - ideas, please?!
Yes im sure Chrissy has addressed this somewhere, but to save time, and eyestrain.

What I did was to have them done professinally done, as the beautician will know what shape will be best for your face. And after that is done you can pluck them your self to keep the shape saving you money. As for the colour of your eyebrows you can always darken them if you so wish. Avon do a some brow definers in blonde, dark brown or soft black. I use the dark brown as i also have fair skin. I can supply these as i do sell avon.
Practical advice
- Choose the right time The ideal time to tweeze is when you get out of the shower, as the heat will have opened the pores and the hairs can be removed more easily.
- Don’t leave too much space between your brows Avoid leaving more than one and a half centimetres between your eyebrows, or you might make your nose look bigger.
- Avoid shaping your brows above your natural hairline It’s best to shape from below as the result will be more natural and in proportion.
The right technique
You should stretch out the skin between two fingers and pull the hairs out, one by one, in the direction of growth. Use a precise and sharp movement, trapping the hair close to its root to prevent it from breaking.
Pull out some hairs from the left, some from the right and so on and so forth, to ensure symmetry between your brows.
The right shape
The basic shape of eyebrows and the direction in which the hairs grow cannot be changed. However, all eyebrows should be shaped so that they’re thicker at the head of the eyebrow (the bit nearest the nose) and then get gradually thinner.
Things to know
- To find out the ideal length, place a pencil vertically against the side of your nose and in the inner corner of your eye. Everything that goes beyond the pencil on the nose side should be removed.
- The thickness depends on the size of the head of the eyebrow and the shape that you want. It’s important that the internal corner is thicker than the rest of the eyebrow.
- The outline of your eyebrow should form a curve that’s ¾ climbing, and ¼ descending.
Tips
- For straggly bits of hair, round the shape of the eyebrow by lightly plucking the upper inner corner of the head of the eyebrow.
- For straight eyebrows, round the shape at the middle of the brow by leaving a bit more thickness at the head of the eyebrow and at the external edge, then pluck just slightly above these two points.
- Avoid over-plucking thin eyebrows.
- For arched eyebrows, very lightly shape the point of the arch for a more rounded shape.
Using wax
Warm wax allows you to make an overall outline of the brow. Apply in the direction of hair growth.
Between the eyebrows, use a small, vertical strip. Avoid using wax above the brow.
Note
- Your skin will probably be red as a result of plucking, so shape your eyebrows the night before a party or at least a few hours before, and definitely not on the big night!
- Once you've finished, brush your eyebrows to put them back in their place and touch up if necessary.
Hope that helps and don't be scared to ask any thing else.
hugs

Had me eyebrows waxed and shaped and a patch test done for tinting, so am taking your advice, and, initially the results look good.
Once again thanks to Jo and Cass in Lancaster! Very professional and interested!

Hello Claire
I got my lashes and eyebrows done last week, the tint on the lashes looks wonderful, the eyebrows not so good, as the girl who plucked them a week earlier was a bit to eager and made them a bit thin to look well defined.
Best thing of all is no eyeliner or mascara needed now.

I feel a bit of a numpty asking this one but here goes. Is it possible to have the eyebrows plucked so that they aren't obviously done for CD purposes? I mean, thinned out but not as thin as a woman would have done.
Being the wrong side of 50, I have them trimmed each time I have my hair cut, otherwise I would look like Denis Healy. However, I don't want them trimmed so much that they look obviously feminine.
And having asked that, can anyone recommend somewhere where I could get that done? Oh and is it painful?, I am such a wimp.

Hello Joanne,
it's a pretty simple task for a skilled practioner to thin out your brows so that they are very subtle. I can whole heartedly recommend Blackburn College Beauty Salon called the Academy.
http://www.blackburn.ac.uk/academyHairAndBeauty.html
They offer a very personal, non-judgmental, fully equal service to male and female, unlike many salons. I go there all the time to get my lashes and eyebrows tinted done every 6-8 weeks, and was there today to get my hair re-styled and new highlights, and they have done a brilliant job as always.
As for pain, it doesn't really hurt at all after the first couple of plucks.
Hope this is some help

Janine, thank you so much for that response. I've checked out their website and it's a measly £3.50, which i assume is for each eyebrow. And open until 9pm means I can pop over after work.
I think I'll give that one a go. Thank you once again.

I think I need to start getting mine done professionally too, any tips for good places in Blackpool?
I've twice now over plucked mine, I was able to grow them back the first time after my FFS (due to not going out for several weeks), but made the same error again over time. I've now just been able to let them grow back again ,after my SRS (again, due to not going out for several weeks), I think they look 'ok' at the moment but I can see wahts going to happen! Really need experienced professional attention (ie not some trainee) that doesnt cost the earth.
