When I write my posts on this forum I have a small problem to overcome

Sally is Dyslexic.. On so many ocations the word or phrase I would like to write has to be changed because!!! .....Why I can't spell the word.
and can't get the spell check to work eather.

I somtimes copy words from other girls writings and try my best to make them fit Or use a word that is not quite right but near enough

The content of my posts may be misunderstood.

Not alone, I am dyslexic - severely so as child. One reason I love computers is the spell check - what a lovely invention. There is no programme though to remind me to put in the and a in my sentences - curse of my letters. Best communication is face to face, if one has a query with a written communication - then I always believe in seeking clarification first. Do not have to be dyslexic to make mistakes with written word. Do not worry about it Sally, and remember why there are downsides to being dyslexic there is also upside. Dyslexic people think differently, we perceive and see the world in a way others can not - a gift

best wishes

I don't think I'm Dyslexic but my spelling is very poor so much so that sometimes, I have put 2 or 3 words where 1 word would have done if only I could have spelt it. I can normally look at a word and know if it's spelt correctly or not, even though I cant spell the word I'm looking at lol. I also get my I's and E's the wrong way round but as soon as I see what I've put, I can see it's wrong and change it.
Don't think it matters if we are Dyslexic or not and if our spelling is good or bad, sure we all know what we are saying in the threads or trying to say anyway :D

I AM the worlds worst speller (despite some having some special lessons at The Gynway Acadamy for Wayward Girls) and i have to get my wife to check over any of my important letters for both spelling and grammar. I find it best to SLOWLY read over any posts I am writing by using the 'Preview Post' button, that way I nearly always find that I have swapped letters round the wrong way, or hit the key next to the one I wanted, or spelt something incorrectly. I don't always get the spelling spot on, but I can make it look more 'proper'.

Hi

One tip from a friend of mine who is terrible with writing and spelling is to use a word processor like MS Word. Write you message or letters on that first, then spell checks it for spelling and grammar. When it come to spelling, a good spell checker, will offer a few suggestions so if you are unsure of the correct spelling, you normally see the correct spelling within the list of possible words?

I too was diagnosed as being mildly dyslexic, So I suppose that means never having to say that you are "Syror!"... ;).........

The spell checker in 'MS word' is ok but make sure its set to UK English!
Or it will throw up as mistakes words like Tyre, Centre, metre, Aluminium just because our "Friends" across the pond like to do things slightly differently!;)

Spell checks can't be fully trusted

Words like dose does can't be picked up as they are correct.

there their Sally but witch one you sea as I don't no

I have an IQ of 130 but only got 40% on a 12yr old's spelling test

The next is simple ryme we all know
just typed and un ckecked as a test

Ba ba black sheep have you any wool
yes sir yes sir therr bags full

Yes I do write like this and go back to check every word

Oh I love computers you can change mistakes

Pen and papper no its start again

I agree there, the spell checkers are American spellings so that dosnt help, I regully have a spot the deliberate mistake competition in the Newsletter despite going through the articals, hving someone proofread it dosnt work due to the fact it is allways put togethe at the last minuit, before I got a Computer I wouldne enteain any form of wrightingfor this reason

Sally - know exactly what you mean - good IQ and low spelling ability - sounds just like myself.
