2008 review

By Julie Black

2008 has been a year where there have been some significant changes for myself as well as the group as always after the Christmas period the group has a quiet time, but already we saw the arrival of some new girls, also at this time some of us were concerned about the old transgender website not working properly and that others couldn’t keep in touch with events or each other so it was decided to have our own which Lynda has managed very well, this may explain why our attendance at the group suddenly increased (we reached 34 at least a couple of times as I recall) as did the amount of new girl looking online and joining the group. During the month of April saw the great Julie Black house move which took me and my family from our previous address near central pier to just around the corner from where the group meets now, (best move I ever did).
As we moved into summer, and the holiday season Sparkle returned although I didn’t attend this year so cant comment on this years events although I heard that this year wasn’t as good as previous years. During September we had a visit from the Lipsink girls demonstrating some of the their products October saw our annual Halloween party with plenty of colourful costumes and again our attendance rose up to 34, during November we heard that Kay was off for her reassignment surgery at the end of the month.. Although I couldn’t attend the groups Christmas meal out (work commitments) the girls say it’s one of the best they’ve been to and maybe will return to the same venue in the future
And now as I come to the end of my review I have noticed that despite this years weather not being brilliant it has not stopped the regular girls as well as new girls from arriving at the group, and from some of the comments I’ve heard we seem to becoming just as popular if not more so than Manchester, hopefully this will continue into 2009 and can I say at this point that both Lynda and Petra deserve great praise and a medal for all the hard work that they both do behind the scenes at Renaissance
