I would love to, however I am in the "deep south" and would probably be strung up from a tree.

From what I hear, Jenny Kelty is planning on a Barbara Cartland look for the day, no way I could compete with that!

Have fun though.

last Year I wore my pink bra over my shirt!......... The ladies at work thought I was a good sport!.... (Only if they knew!).....the lads of course thought... Well Done!.:eek:...... but pretended to not to know me when we all went down the pub at lunchtime!

I always wear my pink bracelet and that was really appreciated this year by one of our receptionists in Manchester who had suffered from Breast Cancer recently

This year I will be more low key by just wearing my little ribbon pin badge on my left boob!.........;)

If we wore Pink, aren't we supposed to send off some money now?

I noticed someone was reading this thread and thought it worth reviving.

The next Wear It Pink day is Friday, October 29th, 2010. Breast Cancer, aside for being potentially lethal, is a devastating blow to any woman. Having dated a woman some years ago who had a mastectomy, I have a little experience of the crushing blow that this is to a woman's self esteem. And let's not forget, men are also quite susceptible to breast cancer too.

The reason I am posting here is that I would be quite interested in doing something to raise funds and awareness for this event. For example, I would be quite prepared to stand in, say, Houndshill Shopping Centre with a collection box, dressed, of course; primarily to raise funds for a very worthy cause but also to show that us girls care. "If you prick us, do we not bleed?" However, I wouldn't want it to be seen to be trivialising us.

Forgive me for having the enthusiasm of the newbie and do point out if I am being naive or impractical. But I feel that this would be a symbiotic rather than cynical excercise.

Not a bad idea but i would need to be pissed before hand to join you on that,a bit shy for that, but boy would we get some attention!!!! so for that reason we would raise a lot of cash so again a good idea,DO YOU HAVE SOME PINK HEELS?:D

If we got some attention then that would be mission accomplished. Pink heels, no. I'd have to buy some. I was thinking of a pink dress and pink heels!

Well im to scared to commit 100% yet as i am self concious but i will think about it?

It would go down well with the Girls, and we would probably get some new Girlfeinds out of it:) its just how the captian cavemen would react? that is the only thing putting me off but i am not saying no yet.

Well, we could get away with it, caveman-wise, because it would appear that we are doing it to raise funds. But, as I said, I wouldn't want it to trivialise what we are about. I would make it perfectly clear to anyone who cared to stop and talk that I was a TV and that I was prepared to suffer any flak for a worthwhile cause. Maybe that would earn us a little more respect?

I have pink everything including heels, and obvioulsy being totally out and a woman this is a definate cause worth supporting.

Most big shops already do what you are proposing with their staff, I certainly know that Boots, Next & Debenhams usually do support Breast Cancer groups throughout the year.

Worthy as you plans are Joanne, you would have to get permission from Houndshill shopping centre beforehand, and make them aware of what you are planning to do. There may be security issues involved especially if some of the people decide to get nasty towards you and you may have to stand quite a bit of abuse/ridicule. Also a lot of people will not be aware that men can get breast cancer as it's not something that is openly advertised, so will wonder why a "guy in a frock" is supporting a cancer that doesn't affect them, as they are so short sighted. Perhaps too cynical?

If you go ahead let me know and I'll be willing to give you a hand.

As ever Petra, you are the calming Ying to my raging Yang.
I've got a few months to come up with a cunning plan.
