View Full Version : My feet are too big !!!

Well my feet are size 9, and that is not so bad these days since there are loads of high street shops that sell size 9. But I still regularly use a shop called Meddisa Shoes (http://www.medissashoes.com/), which is over in Liversedge, near Huddersfield, since they specialise in larger sizes, and in various width fittings.
Now Medissa Shoes do occasional “road shows” and today they were at a hotel in Stockport, a few miles from where I live, and as usual when they are there, I drop by because they often have shoes which are reduced. The thing is that since they specialise in large sizes, most of the women who go to these road shows are not your “average size 0” models – in fact I’ve been told more than once that I’m lucky, only having size 9 feet !!!!
And yet I have never seen another “t girl” at one of these events – or if I have then I didn’t read her. But these events are quite a fascinating experience – and not because there are racks of shoes, but because you realise that we aren’t actually too tall, or too broad shouldered, or have feet that are too big, or are too podgy around the middle, etc. Going to an event like that actually makes one feel quite "petite" :o
And I found exactly what I was looking for – a totally boring pair of ankle boots, which will be ideal for when I start going to work as Jennifer in January. And they are really comfortable too – I’ve driven 60 miles in them, and sat on a friend’s sofa for a whole afternoon in them, and they are terrific :) Now all I have to do is to try walking in them for more than 30 yards !!!

I wish I had size 9 feet, how about size .10. Thease are never sold in ladies shoe shops, so I don't even look. However Evans sell a good range of clothes for the larger ladies, including some shoes. Not a lot of choice in styles but we large girls are used to that!

The shoes that match my dress styles the best are EQUITY dancing shoes. I take size 9EE and they are very comfortable as well as being very pretty

Ah well, I have not found my way around this web site yet :o
But I can vouch for Medissa Shoes - they have always been great with me, even the twice I shopped there (a long time ago now) in bloke mode - and they only sell ladies shoes.
The guys at work who are "in the know" think it's hilarious that I still haven't got round to changing my address on loads of things even though I moved to my flat back in March, but I already have both my address and my name right on the Medissa Shoes mailing list  The girls, of course, understand that completely :D

Hi Jen, not seen you for ages - thanks for the tip.
Yes it has been a while Becky - it is pretty much all to do with electrolysis - I simply don't go out on Wednesdays through to Fridays anymore because I can't shave :(
On top of that I can't wear foundation on a Saturday because of electro on Saturday mornings - but I have been out quite a few times now without any - and survived ;)
It's going to get worse as well - if I am not away on business I'm going to try and fit in an electro session on Tuesdays or Wednesdays too - and that will wreck my social life completely
But what you may not know is that I am going FT on Christmas Day - and the sacrifices I am having to make now with respect to electro are going to be worth it :)
Hope to see you again before too long Becky, and I hope everything is going well for you.

Hi everyone - I'm generally a size 9-10 though on occasion I have been able to squeeze into a pair of 8's - usually if they're 'peep-toe' style or possibly from 'Evans' where sizes are generally quite generous. I also buy shoes from e-Bay ( and sell quite a few as well - 'elamarjil327' or 'xjillx88' - hope it's ok to mention, apologies if not.. mention this group if you're buying from me and I'll be glad to give you a discount ). There are usually quite a few size 9's and 10's up for auction and a few 11 and 12's available as well. It can be a bit of a gamble buying shoes from e-Bay sellers as obviously you can't try them on and you don't always see the full extent of just how 'used' they may be but you can always re-sell items that don't fit. My advice would be to Stick to brands that you know - such as 'Essence' from 'Evans', decide before you bid how much you are going to spend and stick to your budget ( know when to stop bidding ), only buy 'New' items if you don't want to take the risk on 'used' ones, watch out for excessive P+P charges and take note of the 'feedback' ratings. Watch out for items listed as being size 9 that end up being a U.S. size 9 not U.K. ( BEEN THERE AND BOUGHT THOSE !! ) you can always ask the seller to confirm that they are a U.K. size before you buy - Nine West shoes can often fall into this category. I've bought some really nice shoes from e-Bay and I've sold some equally nice ones. There are some bargains out there - especially if you are lucky enough to take an 8 or smaller but there are plenty of larger sizes available as well. Good Luck and yes, you do need another pair of shoes... :);)
