Just wondering - How did one choose their en-femme name?

Personally, I cant quite remember (alzheimers), think it just sounded right at the time. But over the years, or as Lynda would correct me - centuries - I am thinking about adapting it, from Tina to Christina (apparantly Tina means bathtub in spannish:eek:, suppose it could be worse. And although a few months away, changing my name legally to Christina Louise Holt (holt was my grandmothers name,)

Debbie was chosen from a shortlist of Debbie, Wendy and Sarah - who were girls in my junior school class. So, it's been with me for a long time :)

In the end Debbie won, mainly because its conveniently close to my old name.

My middle name, Helen, is the Greek form of my Mam's name - Eileen.

I kept my original surname because I couldn't see any reason not to! :)

Hiya

My name came about in two distinctive reasoning’s. Jennifer was purely a lustful reason. There is an actress called Jennifer Garner, she came to prominence in a TV series called Alias, what a babe, what a stunningly beautiful woman. My surname, Kielty, was an all together different reason. I used to work with a lady, who at the time was my boss, she was a fabulous boss to work for and she is a really lovely person. She was a designer girl, no high street brands only designer clothing, but what stood out the most was that she had incredible good taste and an eye for detail, if she hadn’t been doing the job she was doing, she could have easily been a fashion stylist/personal shopper, she is that good. So I only thought it fair that I took her surname as my surname as an homage to her.

Tina

Spare a thought for anyone who has or would have a name of Pajero, when this car was launched in Spain they had to change the name to shogun. I'll let you do the translation?

Sally Ann Magnay

Sally was my second choice. My first Fe-male name was Wendy But I was told by somone that I did not look like a Wendy so stoped using it instantly.
I know and please don't laugh But Sally came from radio 2
Sally trafic Her voice and peronality seamed to fit the woman I longed to be. Ann is my wife's middle name

So now I am Sally Ann and happy with my choice

Love Sally

I think we did this name thing on the old MSN Forum, can't find what I wrote then so I can sort of repeat it. This is from a diary that i kept for 2004, the month was January. The 'she' refered to is my wife who had only known about my dressing for a couple of weeks

During the evening we watched a film that I have been holding back for her to see at an appropriate time, it is called ‘Just like a woman’, with Julie Walters, it is about a man who secretly dresses as a woman. It was during the film that she found out that we use girl’s names. I have been a bit careful over this item with her, as it could be just the sort of thing to make her go loopy about the whole idea of me in a dress. After watching the film, which she enjoyed, she asked if I had a female name, and I said that I did use a neutral name, one that didn't have any connections with family or friends. She said that she didn't want to know what name I used at the moment. I also said that I was thinking of adopting a name that used my real name initials ‘W. R.’, and she thought it was a good idea. A problem is that `W' names are very limited, I like `Wendy' but she doesn't, so choice number one at the moment is `Willian', and my `R' name `Rachel'. So it is either `Wendy Rachel B', or `Willian Rachel B'. I have now changed my mind, and settled on ‘Whitney Rachel’, if I’m being posh, but to my friends its just ‘Rachel’. This did cause a bit of confusion at my lunchtime Trannie meeting that I attend where they are used to my 'old' name (Pauline), but by the end of the afternoon even I was getting used to being called ‘Rachel’.

Well, no Tina she's not gender dysphoric - but she does have something in common with tv's in that she's got two distinct personas :)

Sometimes she's Soots - cute, warm, cuddly and affectionate :)

Sometimes she's 'Dark Destroyer' - aloof, calculating and the very terror for all the inhabitants of the garden

Thankfully she's Soots mostly :)

A feminised version of my original name not very original, really it's rather androgynous which suited me as I was self medicating and became less masculine over time rather than changing overnight.I was almost called Magaret Walshingham after Katherine Ross's character in the Legacy but it was a bit posh for an oik like me!
