British man naturally turning into a woman
A British man suffering from unnaturally high levels of the female hormone
oestrogen is naturally turning into a woman.
60-year-old pub singer Terry Wright, whose plight is illustrated here by a
picture of a 1930s circus performer, started losing his hair and beard ten years
ago and began developing breasts and smooth skin, according to The Sun
newspaper.
Mr Wright has had to endure taunts of “she-man” from children in his Birmingham
neighbourhood and revealed to the newspaper that, when a young child had bumped
into him, its mother said “Say sorry to the lady”. His predicament is made worse
by the fact that he has a slim build and stands only 5 feet 4 inches tall,
traits that make him appear even more feminine.
A unique case
Blood tests taken by Mr Wright revealed that he had had abnormally high levels
of oestrogen. But the doctors who examined him said they have never seen such a
case – and do not know what to do to reverse the process. An MRI scan has ruled
out the oestrogen surge being caused by a tumour and a psychiatrist has judged
him mentally sound.
While his doctors remain baffled, Mr Wright bemoaned his plight, telling The Sun
"Doctors call me an 'interesting case' and 'unique' but I just want to go back
to being a proper man."
