Thought he had completed his `operation` and therefore was `pulling up the drawbridge`

The cost per operation at £8K will not go far for all those with the diseases the MP refers to:(.

Might be interesting to see how many reassignment operations were undertaken on this MP`s constituents during any one year - if there`s one it will certainly not go far spread amongst all those demanding `other drug use`of his constituents.

Where an operation is approved on the NHS then there is clearly medical concurrance that there is a need for such re-assignment - surely a clear indication that the person has a condition that can be improved by the agreement for the NHS to approve the operation as medically necessary after full consideration and consultation between patient and Doctor/s.:)

Another important point - which I read elsewhere - is that £8,000 is quite cheap when compared with the alternatives for many which might be avoided by proper treatment.

Namely, a life of depression - with associated medical costs including counselling, anti-depressants and, worst case, suicide. Not to mention time spent off work or not working at all and therefore on benefits.

Some people just don't look at the bigger picture do they?

this to me is another reason not to vote tory next time round, what i cant understand is how he can justify wanting more money to pay for a mortgage on a second home, and add extras, if he wants to save money for the NHS then shouldnt he be looking at himself and his fellow MPS to save cash, we're told there is a credit crunch and we all must tighten our belts, should'nt all MPs be setting an example, i'm not one for getting angry but this guy makes my blood boil

Since when has a politician followed or ever lead by example?.....;)

What we have here is a politician who has made "Constituency friendly" comments...(to secure his re-election).. on a subject he has no experience of and little knowledge about!........
