Hi it’s me again.
I always seem to be asking question on this forum! So much to learn and with so many wasted years, so little time to learn it!!!! Well my question is! Does anyone use, or know where I can get hold of, a device which converts earrings:confused: I don’t fancy getting my ears pierced, needles and things, but would like to wear some nice earring. All the nice ones are for pierced ears and the clip on ones, leave a lot to be desired.
Thanks
Linzi

Hobbycraft sell them, the device is U shaped with loop to fix the earing to and a screw fitting that fixes the earring to the earlobe. You can get these in gold and silver (plate) too.

If I were you I would have them done properly
There is no pain and no needles are involved
I had mine done 15 years ago clip on ones are not the same
After all us ladies have to suffer a little for our looks

Jennifer get your ears pierced there are no needles, its just a click and the earring itself pierces your ear, it stings for a few mins but much less painful than wearing the dreaded clip-ons ouch! If you want to ask any more on care etc feel free to contact me.

'They' also make converters that use a clip as opposed to a screw 'g clamp' type. I say 'they' as I don't know where to get them normally. Mine came from a stall in Covent garden Market when I brought some earings. the lady was kind enough to sell me some spares, gold and silver ones. They must be about somewhere!

Can I also add that Claire's accessories sell pierced earring 'adapters' which do exactly the same thing. A thin clip on with a tube attached to fit the wire of the pierced earring into.
I actually bought some last month , a pair for me ; and a pair for my teenage daughter ( 16) who doesn't fancy having her ears pierced but wants to borrow some of her mum's earrings.
They cost me 75p a packet, one gold and one silver pair per packet, from Claire's in Gloucester.
The sales assistant didn't know they sold them but when she asked the Manageress she pulled them off their revolving display.
I originally found them on their website so you could probably order them that way if you don't want to go in to the shop.

Hi All
Thanks for all the advice, and Reggie for the motherly protection ( I hope no insult intended there?:D) All very sound advice, but for the moment I’ll be going with the converters. I’m not ready/confident enough to start changing my male persona yet!!!
Thanks again

My ears are still sore from wearing clip-ons from Claires, and that's a week ago. There are different sorts of clip, some more comfortable than others, some padded ,some not, some sprung, some screw. I've worn others which were quite OK, so find the ones which suit you.
Diana,
seriously trying to convince herself not to have her ears pierced....

I've had good success with Cliptomania over the years. As name suggests website sells only clip-ons. Prices seem pretty good. I love the dangly and chandelier types. ones I buy are in 8-16usd price range. You can go higher if you want depending on the artist. Their service is also very professional,

I use to wear clip on and they made my ear sore. Jill (my partner ) persuaded me to get my ears pieced. I found the whole idea scary - what would people say. Answer is nothing. I walk around with pretty studs in my ears, when I am in male mode. Comments are rare, and usually 'that is cool' (from women) and 'why both ears not one ear '(from men). Most people do not bat an eyelid - even when I am wearing pink stud, even in very male company .I like to match my shirts, and I have two pink shirts. And wearing earrings in pieced ears is so much more comfortable - and they move better, and so feel better. Well I thought I would share that. Anyway many young men do have their ears pierced these days. And or course pirates and sailors did. Francis Drake wore drop pearls in each ear, as Jill told me when she dragged me off to have my ears pieced. So if you do decide to go for piecing - that is my experience.
best wishes
