Hello Sophie,
Girls vary in their opinions as to what is the best to cover up a beard shadow, and to be honest it depends on how heavy you are yourself as to which is the best product for you.
Personally I don't have much of a shadow as mine is pretty grey and been zapped by laser, so I can get away with basically a tinted moisturiser such as Estee Lauder Day Wear, during the day.
If it's a special day out or I want to look glam, then I swear by Estee Lauder Double Wear, it's very resistant too being rubbed off and gives excellent coverage for me personally and blends so well. Then overlaid with Clinque superbalanced powder. I also used Boot's No. 7 mousse originally and found that a good product.

Hi Sophie,
As a qualified beautician it is very difficult.
Lots of places are selling items as beard cover at a high price beard cover is just a fancy name for pan stick or foundation
Depending on you skin tone we have 3 different colours .
The best way is to use a pan stick 1st,then foundation ,then powder if very effective.
Always layer make up,many different layers are better than 1 heavy coat.
If you need any more help dont hesitate to contact us .
