I like music and LOVE films.
my fave TG related song is Origin Of Love from Hedwig and the Angry Inch.
If you've not seen this film, then you should because I think it's a modern classic. Songs I also like from this film include Wig in a Box, Sugar Daddy and Angry Inch.

There is a song I would like some help finding.
I don't know who wrote & sang it or what it's called, but the first couple of lines are:
He looked good in my dress/
There were ribbons in his hair/
And lipstick was everywhere/
That's all i can remember. Maybe someone has heard it and can tell me.

But what's you're fave song or film?

'Just like a Woman' - (HMV £9-99) Super TV film, ideal for showing to the wife, believe me!

Also 'Kinky Boots' is great fun

Both available on DVD

There is also 'It's Real for Girls' not got that as a DVD, just a poor video off the telly

If I am allowed to advertise, this is one of the leading websites dealing with films that have a man in womens clothing in any scene. -

For me there are two choices on the film front

'Different for girls' - about a TS who is living full time when she meets an old school friend and they end up having a whirlwind romance.

'Ma Vie on Rose' - not to be confused with 'La vie en Rose' (which is very good but not in the least TG related). A Belgian film - a very sensitive look at a little boy who knows he's a little girl.... and how those around him react and eventually adapt. Really nice, if a little sad at times.

even though i can't remember clint eastwood crossdressing, george clooney DID cross dress for a music video once. watch a few before they were famous programmes, and you'll see it.

Correct, the 'Video Plus' title on the tape gives it as 'It's Real for Girls' but I just checked the film and it IS ' Different for Girls'

I agree that 'Priscilla' is a quality film and I enjoy it whenever it is on, but my absolute favourite film has to be 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch'.

Who the H--l is Hedwig

Nicola D

for the un-initiated:
Hedwig was created by John Cameron Mitchell as a drag act. It the became a off-broadway musical called Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It the became a movie starring John Cameron Mitchell (after several other hedwigs on stage).
The movie is about (not going to spoil it, don't worry) a (possibly)TS called hedwig from east berlin. The film is a musical, but not rogers and hammerstien, PUNK ROCK.
I'll lend it to you reggie at the next ren meeting if you would like to see it.

I'd still like to know what other peoples fave TG related film or song is.

Here is another question ? can anyone remember a film with Yul Brynner where he played either a Transvestite or a Drag queen, I can only remember the scene where he took off his wig in a Bar. This will be one for either the older generation or a real film buff.

yours hopefully

Nicola D

I got this off of Wikipedia:

Brynner also appeared in drag in an unbilled role in the Peter Sellers comedy The Magic Christian

Hope that helps.

For your eyes only has to be one of these films for me, the one with Caroline Cossey as the bond girl.

For years I never knew she was a MTF TS, I just saw her as a woman, it wasn't until I saw the newspaper article about her that I knew. Even watching the film now it still makes me wonder.

Thanks Julie I was begining to think I had dreamt it

Excuse me but I'm sure I also mentioned it (2 posts above julie), no disrespect to julie, but i hate to be left out !!!

YES Transamerica ?
Why havent they made Transunited kingdom or Transbritain or Transengland,
America is'nt the only place in the world where TS's exist
AND Hollywood doesn't have a good track record for telling the truth (pearl harber, U571)
Yes Transamerica was the most realistic TS film so far but I'd like to see better.

I have just seen the latest St Trinians film, and of course the Headmistress is played by a man, Rupert Everet in this case.

This of course reminded me of all the previous St Trinians movies where Alistair Sim and Lionel Jeffries appeared as women or crossdressers respectively. Great British Films !!!

I don't want to appear unintellectual on my second post, but I'm very taken with the 'Rocky Horror Show', I've just about worn the tape out.

I think everyone has seen Rocky Horror (film & stage) but it is a classic.
If you've worn the tape out, why not upgrade to DVD?

For me it has to be La Cage Aux Folles the French camp farce. It's so over the top and so funny. People may know it better as the Birdcage staring Robin Williams. That was an okay film but never caught the over the top nature of the French film. Kinky boots is is also a real fav of ours and always cheers us up.

Welcome to the forum Becky,

I can't say that i've seen La Cage Aux Folles but I do have The Birdcage starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane, I think it's hilarious.

As for Kinky Boots, I remember watching a documentary about the factory owner who had decided to make womens shoes for crossdressers and was at a trade show in europe. I was amazed a few years later when a film was made about the same guy. Not too bad a film either.

Thanks for the welcome Nicola. I did hear that Kinky boots was based on reality
but wasn't sure how true it was. Another great film that we love is Breakfast on Pluto. The trouble is theres just so many great films out there.
