Well people - here we go!
Am having to bite the bullet and admit that my shaving technique on me chest is leaving me with lumps and bumps. So. in order to sort it, i am gonna go 6 weeks before having them both waxed again, and not shave in the meanwhile (that is, the offending parts!). This is in time for an Autumn music festival where i will be coming out more.
What's the expereince of Ren peeps on the benefits and efficiency over time of waxing versus shaving. Most of the time, me back's a treat!
Soon to be Spiky Clare (but you may still hug me - please!) xx

Bit late but could not help but reply. My friend Sue attacks me once a week with her epilator. She does my chest, arms and legs. It hurt a little to begin with but now I'm used to it and now I don't behave like a total coward. I'd only ever go back to shaving out of desperation now. Tesco sell a basic rechargeable epilator for under £20 that works well and is ideal to keep in the car although Sue has an all singing Braun one. The cheaper one is actually very effective but has no facial hair attachments.

Thanks very much for your reply; chest seems to be a really vulnerable area with me, so i'm going back to square one to see if i can heal up before considering other options.
Epilation may be the thing in time, but i think that with all the shaving aids i've tried, i'm trying to find a cheaper option over time as chest hair is coarser (with all shaving?). Obviously, really need an answer for all the nice kit i'd like to wear - how's this for getting close to femme experience, eh?!! Once again, many thanks!

I epilate and shave, in a sort of rotation, but I am increasingly unhappy with the results, especially on my legs. However, I cant afford waxing or laser till I get back to work.
With my chest and back something wonderful happened... I started hrt, epilated once, was waxed once, and it never came back! (apart from the fair sort of hair women have anyway)

Hello,
Epilating is the way to go, definately for cheapness, speed and convenience. Once you get uysed to the intial few bits of pain then it's pretty straight frowards and you'll be soon happily running it right over you nipples even. Get a Braun Silk Epil and you can use it in the shower or bath, to make it even less painful.
Obviously you can't us it on you back as you can't do it youself, but if you have a helpful partner, can get them to do it.

The Braun Silk Epil is a brilliant tool to have in your femme armoury thats for certain and it has powerful LED that is really useful. It also comes with a skin cooling pack you put in the freezer prior to epilating. Got mine from Amazon where you can also find varying reviews on where it works best and how much discomfort it might cause.

About how much does it cost to have your chest waxed at a middlemarket salon? And what about your legs?
This is my first contribution to the forum, so hello everyone. I'm having ipl on my face at present, and it's going well, though there's still a long way to go, and I'll need electrolysis as well. I can ask them how much it costs, of course, but I'd like to ask here first, just to avoid visibly reacting if it turns out to be a lot higher than I imagined. Just to avoid embarrassment, you see! I'm a student, so I can't afford much, though I take pride in my ability to save.

Hello Helen,
For a chest wax it's usually around £15-£20, and a full leg wax is about the same price, a half leg wax costs £8 - £15. I go to Blackburn college and it cost £15 for each. A local salon, charges £17.50 for a chest or back wax and £25 for a full leg wax. As your a student then your college probably has it's own salon open to the public and you'll probably get it cheaper.
I paid about £600 for my LHR and it's done a pretty good job apart from my top lip which needs a few more sessions. I have lots of grey hair unfortunately so I have just embarked on Electrolysis I went to a salon that charges £16.50 for 30 minutes. I'm sure I can get it cheaper. But the college charges only £1 a session but alas is only available for about 6 weeks a year and is much slower as the students aren't very proficient.
Hope this is of some help

I bought a Braun Silk Epil. I started off using it on my chest and have never experienced so much pain in my life! I likened it to a blind man using a pitchfork to try and pluck out the individual hairs. After about 5 minutes I was perspiring profusely and had to give up. I did my legs, which wasn't quite as bad. Although they never seem quite as smooth as a shave.
I should add I am a complete coward when it comes to pain. I nearly faint when I cut a finger.
I may pop over to Blackburn College for a chest and back wax. I didn't think my back was that bad, but before going out on NYE I asked Petra Susan if she wouldn't mind just 'tidying' up my back. 15 minutes later and she was still at it with the beard trimmer I use! I felt like a sheep, especially after she dipped me, painted a blue cross on my back, slapped me on the behind and sent me back to the flock :)
Maybe I need instruction on how to use an epilator? It shouldn't be that difficult, but I do seem to make a meal of everything.
