Hi
I would like to ask for some advice please regarding air travel when dressed? I would class myself as a crossdresser and as such hold a current UK passport as a male! Due to luggage weight restrictions I am finding it hard to keep to this limit with all the necessary stuff a T-Girl needs! So I was thinking if I travel out dressed, then that should alleviate the need to pack so much stuff? I’ll be flying with EasyJet from either Liverpool or Standsted. I was wonder if anyone has travel by air and what sort of issues I could encounter. The obvious one would be looking nothing like my passport picture?
Thanks
Jenny

This has been asked a few times...

One thread...http://www.gynwayblackpool.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103&highlight=travelling+enfemme

As far as I know there is no reason not to fly in fem mode.

Mellisa Lilac one of our members flies all over the world as Melissa and has a male passport.... confidence is the main thing....

One suggestion that I heard of was to have a photo set illustrating your transition from boy to Jenny, to use if challenged.

Try travelling "undressed" and see what reaction you get then!

Use your real name on tickets, as on your passport.
Outer clothing will have to be removed for going through security, this includes cardigans, so wear something suitable with this in mind.
Shoes/boots may have to come off, so no holey tights.
If you set off the alarms security will check you out by frisking or magic wand, should be by the gender you appear in, but why make a fuss if it isnt?
Dont forget the liquids/gel rules, easy to forget when you carry "touch up kits" as we do. So put them in hold luggage. But what about delays, maybe just small amounts of the most vital stuff ie foundation and lippy to get you through the ordeal.
Second credit cards/debit cards can be got very easily from most banks, so can be your femme name. But be aware many countries require ID along with your card, so if they are different names they will just let it go without noticing as they are dazzled by your beauty.

I'd be careful about credit cards with a femme name - as this might look like (or even be) fraudulent. However, before I went full time I had mine changed to just have an initial - with no gender marker. Some banks may ask for an explanation but nothing to worry about.

Hiya

Well made it back with ease! Well there was one moment but nothing really to speak of. Check in was a doddle, not even a close scrutiny by the Easy Jet girl. I passed through security and the scanners, no problems there, didn’t even set off the detectors. It was only when I was passing through the final passport control to the departure gate that I caused a stir! I presented my passport and the male security guard who did a double take and then kept looking at my passport and then looking at me! I really didn’t think he knew what to do! So after a few minutes he referred to his colleague who said something in German, then my passport was handed back and was told to proceed to the gate. That was it.

Arriving back in the UK and walking through passport control was painless as well, I showed my passport to the immigration person who did scrutinise me but nothing was said and I was on my way within seconds. All in all it was a very liberating experience, albeit quite nerve racking to start with. Once I had settled down, I really enjoyed the experience and would do it again. It was relatively easy because I was travelling to an EU country, and Berlin is a very liberal city. Maybe other countries and cities would different.

I would also like to thank Sarah Hughes, in bob mode, who accompanied me, for the moral support and encouragement. This experience has given me the confidence that I could do this solo in the future.

I have posted a picture of me at the departure gate!

Congrats on the flying dressed. The couple occasions that I've done it I've never ever encountered any problems. Not even the second looks, probably because my passport is in my female name, rather than a male one and so when i present doesn't set that little alarm off in some peoples minds.

I wish I did have natural feminine looks.

Obviously, these post 911 days, security is uppermost in airline's and airport's thinking. They do have the right not to carry any passenger they suspect.

To be honest, I'd be careful. Names on Passport, and Ticket should match. They will be compared. I got a good 'patdown' at Manchester en route to Heathrow, and queried the policy; I was told they have the right as above.

Heathrow Terminal 3 has a full body scan machine operating since 2008. The days I've been through it, they selected only females; it could be embarrassing for someone who externally does not match their anatomy.

I suspect the worst would be to expect a thorough search; relax they are human and have seen it all before. I've had my stents examined by UK/US security without problem. They were discreet. At Manchester they showed me a picture of my case, the stents had an iPod wrapped around it! To be fair, it did look suspicious ;)

Be crefull when not dressed also, a bit diffrent but i went to Amsderdam in the car, when i got back to Harwich customs i got pulled in.

It was like the French connection i was there for about 6 hours, they searched the car in and out and even went as far as xraying wheels, sniffer dogs the lot!

I had no drugs(good job!) and no criminal record! but they still thought i was a smuggler.I had small amount of Porn on DVD in my bagp.Perfectly legal in the rest of europe)but because it did not have the UK licence i got fined about £140 pound and they confiscated them

I am just glad i was not dressed en Femme at the time as it would have added to the stress.

I had a similar incident, returning to Hull from Rotterdam. Customs pulled my car because the tax and MOT had expired (I had been away for about 12 months). Luckily, I had Dutch insurance. I was clear, but had 3 days to get it MOT'd etc.

Maybe air travel is safer for us, because of the sheer volume of passengers? I also think smaller airports are worse than larger ones because they are in the sticks, more provincial.
